How My Generation and I Are GOING to Change the World

Alright, so I am a part of Generation Z, also known as igen or centennials. This generation was born between 1996 and 2010. The youngest of this generation are 10 years old, the oldest are 24. We’ve grown up with technology and being accepting by people of various skin colors and cultures. We are multiracial and multicultural. We focus on the future.

We’re young, but we’re angry.

In 2019, there have been 45 school shootings as of November 19th. That’s pretty much one for every week. We’ve grown up in a world full of violence and hate. Where religion, that’s supposed to spread love, does the exact opposite. We don’t trust the government or authorities because they’ve hurt us so many times. We’re in the midst of hell on earth, but we will change that.

The baby boomer generation is the generation that was born from 1946 to 1954. This generation was extremely optimistic, but ruined it all for the generations to come.

Generation X was born from 1966 to 1976. This generation grew up in broken homes and broken society, so they have a “what’s in it for me” attitude. Being the generation who was supposed to fix everything, their failures left us to deal with their damages years later.

Generation Y, also known as Millennials, were born between 1977 and 1994. This generation is the largest since the boomers, however they are focused on right now and are also extreme optimists.

And it ends with us, Generation Z. The earth is burning. There’s violence everywhere. We’re all losing faith and hope. And I, and the rest of my generation, am going to change that.

Now, as of the time I’m writing this, I’m only 17 years old. I’m getting a college education (which is way too expensive), working a minimum wage job (which is way too low), and thinking of joining the United States Air Force as a doctor.

How will such an average person like me change the world? Well, it all starts with a passion and a plan.

When I join the Air Force, I will be receiving a scholarship for my medical school, so that I can focus on my studies in exchange for four years of service. When I am a doctor in the Air Force, I will be one of the most important people on the team. My job will be to spread love and heal.

My purpose is to spread love and heal. That’s all I want to do with my life and if I have to do that in the military, then that’s going to be how I’m going to do it.

I will make sustainable and environmentally conscious decisions and I will encourage every one I meet to do the same. I will encourage everyone I meet to love unconditionally because love is the only complete thing. Nothing is complete without love; love for ourselves, love for each other, love for the environment, and love for living.

I will make a change. I will fight for peace and love. I will fight for climate action. I will fight for equity. I will fight for the future. That is my plan and I will stick to it.

Lots of love,

Meghan ❤
